Biography
Kirstin Self is a 7th year teacher who has taught at the middle and high school levels. She has a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both from Texas A&M University. Kirstin holds several teaching certifications including Grades 7-12 Social Studies; Grades 4-8 Language Arts/Social Studies; and ESL Supplemental. She has taught U.S. History, Texas History, and Humanities.
Kirstin currently teaches 11th Grade U.S. History at Birdville High School. Kirstin served on the STAAR 2.0 Assessment Team for Birdville ISD. In this role she delivers developed instructional plans; incorporates differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse needs of students; and facilitates project-based learning while incorporating technology. She also analyzes formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction.
Previously, with Burleson ISD, she served as the school’s Student Council Sponsor, on the Principal’s Campus Leadership Team, and as Social Studies Department Lead.
